Powder Coating in Furniture Manufacturing

Powder coating is a dry finishing process that has gained significant traction in the furniture industry due to its eco-friendliness, durability, and versatility. It involves applying a powdered paint mixture, composed of finely ground particles of pigment and resin, to a pre-treated metal surface.

The process typically follows these steps:

Pre-Treatment: Before coating, the furniture piece undergoes cleaning and degreasing to remove dirt, oils, and other contaminants. A chemical treatment may also be applied to improve adhesion.

Application: Using an electrostatic gun, the powder is sprayed onto the furniture, adhering electrostatically to the surface.

Curing: The coated furniture is then heated in an oven, causing the powder to melt and flow, forming a uniform, continuous film that hardens upon cooling.

Powder coating results in a tough, abrasion-resistant finish that is more durable than conventional liquid paints. It's available in a wide range of colors and textures, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor furniture, including metal chairs, tables, and patio sets.
